April 27th in Deer Park Wood

A rather overcast day, after days of perfect sunshine.

Bluebells out!

We have been concerned that our resident Muntjac deer were making too much of a meal of the bluebells – but, although rather pale, they are now showing themselves. They are visible on the mound on the left as you come in from the north entrance.

Dappled shade

The wooded areas have been quite bright until now – but as the leaves grow, the areas under dense tree cover now become darker.

This spring has been very kind to us – there are many years when the path below has been deep mud in April.
